Evelyn Olson Lamden and Margaret McAllister founded Red Kite as a consulting firm specializing in the women's market. After 30 years each working for major corporations and on key advertising accounts, they came to realize the importance of the female consumer to their clients. They recognized that marketing success hinged on what women though and how they bought.
This focus led them to a broader understanding of women's roles in American society. Not only are women America's key consumers, but they're also America's entrepreneurs, small and medium-sized business owners, and emerging corporate executives. Yet America's consumer and business cultures are just beginning to recognize the fact and to understand that women - whether moms or CEOs - see the world differently.
Today, Red Kite has become a certified women-owned business by WBENC (Women's Business Enterprise National Council) and CPUC (California Public Utilities Commission). We are actively supporting other WBENC-certified businesses. And we have made a commitment to support struggling women-owned business in America and around the world through Kiva, the online micro-lending service.
