Red Kite is committed to implementing business practices that minimize our carbon footprint and help sustain the environment. We are committed to the practices of reuse, reduce and recycle and to purchasing products and services from businesses who share our concerns about the planet and its human and natural resources. Implementing a green policy is a growing evolving process; our current practices include:
- Minimizing carbon emissions and energy consumption by working virtually in structures that incorporate sustainable features (i.e. double-paned opening windows, additional insulation and energy efficient applicances)
- Minimizing the use of heating and air conditioning systems
- Using compact fluorescent instead of incandescent light bulbs
- Using only natural lighting during the day
- Minimizing water consumption
- Substituting digital technology for paper-based communications and operations
- Shutting off all computers at night and powering them down during the day when not in use
- Unplugging and/or turning off all electronics when not in use
- Buying 100% recycled paper and minimizing our paper consumption with double-sided printing/copying and reusing paper stock, whenever possible
- Using refillable office products (i.e. pens, pencils, water bottles)
- Recycling paper, plastic, ink cartridges, electronic gear, aluminum, glass, and other accepted materials
- Buying locally grown, organic foods whenever possible
- Participating in micro-lending program which supports aspiring entrepreneurs around the world
- Encouraging other businesses and individuals to implement green practices at work and home
