We're Red Kite

Red Kite was founded in 2007 and is based in San Diego, California. At that time, two women who were seasoned in traditional marketing, were progressive enough to see the future in digital, and the emerging power of women. They established Red Kite as “Experts on Women” and focused on gender marketing. Now, Red Kite is flying solo by Evelyn Olson Lamden, who still believes in the power of women while helping the small to medium-sized business owner navigate the cloudy skies of a changing digital world.

Red Kite is certified as a WBE with WBENC, advocating for supplier diversity by working with other WBEs and minority-owned businesses. In 2017, Red Kite received the So Cal Edison Diversity Business Enterprise Award for their 12th annual Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month Celebration.

Our Brand History

As brand experts, how did we come up with our own special brand that could deliver on our  brand promise and set an example for other companies who  might potentially become clients? We know that a brand is more than a name, a well-designed logo, and a clever tagline. So we conducted our own branding workshop, asking ourselves the same questions we ask our clients when conducting a brand analysis. And here is why we ended up with Red Kite:

  • Red: Besides being my favorite color (check my wardrobe), Red is an exciting color, emitting a strong emotional feeling of strength, power, passion, and also conjures up a vivid mental image.
  • Kite: Kites are fun, whimsical, and reminiscent of good times. We all work hard but we should also enjoy what we do…a kite delivers on that.
  • When you hear or read Red Kite, admit that that’s exactly what you see in your mind’s eye?! It’s good to be memorable!
  • The imagery of flying a kite implies specific things: flying a kite as high as you dare, while being tied to the ground to keep you in check and in control. That’s what running a business is about, and that’s what Red Kite is about. We help you fly as high as you want to go, but keep you grounded and in control.
